Bobby embarked on a solo career, which over the years has evolved into Phillips, Carson & Phillips which actively practiced in both civil and criminal court rooms
Friedman, Donaldson & Phillips had a record Medical Malpractice recovery (at the time) of $3.5 Million dollars.
After leaving the legislature, Bobby joined a Plaintiff’s Law firm which became Friedman, Donaldson & Phillips and from 1988 through approximately 1993 it was Savannah’s number one Medical Malpractice firm.
Bobby was chosen as the Savannah Jaycee’s “Man of the Year” for his community involvement and legislative achievements.
Bobby was elected to the Georgia Legislature where he served for 6 years, representing Chatham County’s islands’ district.
Bobby returned to practice law in Savannah in 1974 and joined with the Law Firm of John J. Sullivan, Savannah’s premier criminal attorney at the time. In 1977, Bobby formed the firm of Smith and Phillips, where he specialized in criminal law cases.
Upon graduation from Law School Bobby served in the US Army, and received an Honorable Discharge in 1974 as a JAGC Captain. His duty time was spent as a Criminal Defense Attorney in Stuttgart Germany.
Bobby attended Mercer University in Macon where he was a Governor's Honor student, graduating Mercer’s Walter F. George School with a Juris Doctorate degree in 1970.
